OUR REVIEW & VERDICT

DNSYS Z1: Exploring knee-joint assistance with careful sizing

An original synthesis of the linked evidence. SmartWearGuide has not hands-on tested this device.

Z1 moves the assistance point to the knee, making it a materially different purchase from X1. The family offers standard and Pro configurations with different materials and listed per-leg weights. Its value should be judged against the intended movement and fit, rather than assuming a knee-mounted system is universally better than one at the hips.

The documented fit envelope includes height, wearer weight, waist size and combined thigh-and-calf measurements. These are not minor ordering details. A wearable acting across a joint must align correctly, so falling within one measurement does not remove the need to check the others or follow fitting instructions.

The catalogue lists 680 g per leg for Z1 and 640 g for Pro, with different frame materials. We have not established independent comparative results for assistance, comfort or endurance. Confirm the exact configuration, permitted activities, service route and trial policy before purchase. X1 batteries and chargers are not interchangeable with Z1, which matters if you are considering a second system. This is a specialist recreational selection, with the attraction of knee-level assistance kept separate from any unsupported rehabilitation claim.

Why #6 in this selectionSixth for a different assistance location, with more fit variables than a simple specification comparison reveals. A successful individual trial should determine suitability.

The compromiseCheck every documented body measurement and the exact variant. Independent performance evidence remains limited in this pass, and the battery system is separate from X1.
