OUR REVIEW & VERDICT

Astroskin: Synchronised physiological recording during research

An original synthesis of the linked evidence. SmartWearGuide has not hands-on tested this device.

Astroskin is valuable when a study needs several physiological signals collected together while a person moves. The shirt and headband combine three-lead ECG, two respiratory signals and forehead optical sensing. That is a more specific proposition than calling it a smart shirt: its main benefit is a coordinated recording setup for researchers.

The documented measurements include skin temperature, which should remain labelled as skin temperature. Derived blood-pressure estimates should likewise not be confused with a conventional cuff reading. Keeping those distinctions visible is essential because an attractive dashboard can make different kinds of measurement look equally definitive.

This is best considered by a team with an established acquisition and analysis process. Garment fit affects contact, the headband is an additional item to wear, and the complete software workflow matters as much as the textile. Ask which raw signals and exports the selected package includes, and how laundering and replacement garments are handled. We have not independently tested accuracy or usability. Its place here reflects the scope of synchronised recording and the clear professional task, not a claim that it replaces clinical equipment in every setting.

Why #3 in this selectionThird for multi-signal research that would otherwise need several separate wearables. Its complexity makes it excessive for casual fitness tracking.

The compromiseFit, cleaning, software and trained interpretation add cost and effort. Derived values must not be presented as interchangeable with direct clinical measurements.
