OUR REVIEW & VERDICT
Hypershell X Ultra: Higher specified power and range for demanding recreational use
An original synthesis of the linked evidence. SmartWearGuide has not hands-on tested this device.
X Ultra is the specification-led choice for a user who has already established that powered hip assistance works for them. The manufacturer lists 1,000 W, a 1.8 kg frame and up to 30 km per battery, with two batteries included. Those figures make it worth examining for longer outings, but they do not prove the best experience for an inexperienced wearer.
Tom Morgan-Freelander used the exact X Ultra for several weeks for Stuff, finding setup straightforward and assistance useful across outdoor activities, while noting rapid battery depletion in strong Hyper mode. Julia Clarke's TechRadar mountain outing also reported helpful uphill assistance but less consistent downhill support. Her outing included a company representative. These reports are encouraging personal experiences, not controlled proof of the advertised exertion reductions.
We have not independently verified the range or established a controlled comparison with Pro and Carbon. Treat the specification improvement as a reason to trial Ultra, not as proof of proportionately easier hiking. Plan for the weight carried when assistance is off, and confirm spare-battery and service availability in your country. Like the other recreational Hypershell models, it assumes independent walking and balance and should not be presented as a substitute for a prescribed mobility device.
Why #3 in this selectionThird for higher specified capability now supported by exact-model field reports. The provisional order still prioritises individual fit and total cost over maximum power.
The compromiseThe power and range claims are conditional manufacturer figures. More capability does not remove gait, comfort, terrain or battery-planning constraints.
Manufacturer documentation plus attributed exact-model firsthand or laboratory evidence. No SmartWearGuide hands-on test; results remain specific to the tested conditions.
